Throughout my life, I always had a passion for photography and have developed a focus on Male Studio Photography over the years.
My passion for photography has been constantly growing over time, with new ideas and inspiration from travel, fashion and art.
I started taking photographs of everyday people during my travels in North America, Latin America, the Middle East and all over Europe.
Inspired by watching people reading on park benches, street musicians among the crowds and fishermen by the sea. I was then approached by a local model who admired my work and asked me if I would be interested in undertaking some fashion photography… and after one photo-shoot, I was hooked. Male photography has a very small market niche; I feel it is still not as appreciated and this gives me the drive to do more. I love images that people could relate to… you do not have to be a super model. Outstanding images tell the story of the man next door, the average working man and it boosts the confidence of the model and inspires other to embrace their own image.
I had the pleasure and privilege of working with the guy next door and professional male models from all over the world; my work has been described as ‘raw and simple’ and has been internationally published. A portrayal of the strength, power and the beauty of the masculine form is what I want to communicate through my art. I also love to show the softer side of a man by incorporating images with nature infusions brought into a studio shoot. It’s not just a portrait or a fashion shoot, if you want to be photographed by Markus Brehm, then expect to be covered in rose petals, butterflies, sea shells and body paint… and I bet you will be pleased with the result.
I draw inspiration from life, am passionate about what I do and never lose sight of what’s important to me.
