Cigar Smoking World Championship (CSWC), celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019, will host a qualification event at Astor Bar, St Regis Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, 16 March.
Malaysia’s Trinidad Cigar Company brings this glamourous lifestyle event to Kuala Lumpur after CSWC’s previous Asian qualification events in Bangkok and Saigon in prior years. It is the first Asian qualification event for the 2019 season.
“It is an honour to bring the Cigar Smoking World Championship to Kuala Lumpur,” said Dato’ Indera Naresh Mohan, CEO of Malaysia cigar distributor and retailer Trinidad Cigar Company. “There are tremendous prizes up for grabs, including an entry ticket to the Grand Final. The event itself will be a celebration of cigar culture and will be a great spectacle so I invite those who are not participating to come and watch the event.”
Founded and hosted by Croatian Marko Bilic, CSWC is a global luxury lifestyle event with over 35 qualification rounds in cities around the world, and which culminates in a grand final in Split, Croatia in September.
CSWC Competitors are challenged to smoke the Macanudo Inspirado Mareva, a mareva sized-cigar (42 x 5 1/8), for the longest period of time. The cigar must stay lit the entire time and once the flame goes out, so too does the competitor’s chances of victory. The Macanudo Inspirado Mareva has been especially created by Macanudo Cigars for the CSWC with superb quality control ensuring everyone has an equal chance to win.
The current CSWC Champion is Mr Hauke Walter (Germany) who smoked his cigar at the 2018 Grand Final for 2 hours, 48 minutes, 8 seconds. The current CSWC World Record Holder is Mr Darren Cioffi (USA) who has an unbeaten time of 3 hours, 24 minutes. Who will be Kuala Lumpur’s first CSWC Grand Final qualifier and what time will they set?
